Description

Looking for a comprehensive Project-Based Language Activity for Speech Therapy, specifically designed for SLPs who want to engage their students through hands-on experiences. This Project-Based Language Activity for Speech Therapy resource uses a crayon melt project to bring language learning to life, helping students connect language concepts with real-world applications.

Language evolves from doing, but it can be hard to 'do' and provide experiences when you only see your kids 30 minutes once or twice a week. This project-based language resource will help you bring in fun and engaging activities to boost the connection students make to the language concepts you're targeting. Your kids will be excited to share all the exciting information they learned about crayons and show off their creations!

WHAT'S INCLUDED?

  1. Articulation: Practice targeted sounds while discussing and describing their projects.
  2. Turn Taking: Cooperative tasks encourage conversational turn-taking.
  3. Commenting: Students practice commenting on their own work and their peers' creations.
  4. Vocabulary: Build thematic vocabulary related to crayons and the art process.
  5. Sequencing: Step-by-step instructions reinforce sequencing skills.
  6. Describing: Use sensory language to describe textures, colors, and outcomes.
  7. Comparing/Contrasting: Compare crayon colors, shapes, and designs.
  8. Comprehension: Follow along with engaging reading passages.
  9. Synonyms/Antonyms: Expand language skills with related word activities.
  10. Irregular Past Tense Verbs: Practice describing actions using correct verb forms.

Plus, you'll find book recommendations, step-by-step instructions, AAC sentence strips, and extension activities to further enrich your sessions.

I did this lesson with my life skills kids and they loved it! We used the sequencing charts to ensure that every step was followed and I appreciated the sentence strips as several of my students are working on expanding utterances. Truly a fun lesson and I can not wait to use it with my language groups.
