What others say
Description
This Project-Based Learning bundle focused on personal identity gives high school students the structure and freedom they need to explore who they are, while giving teachers a clear, low-prep framework that actually works.
Designed as a student-led PBL bundle, these identity projects guide learners through meaningful self-discovery without requiring you to script every step.
What These Projects Do:
This Personal Identity Project-Based Learning Bundle includes three student-led projects built around the same core outcome: helping students reflect, research, and build a healthy self-concept through authentic work.
Across the projects, students explore:
- Their heritage and family background
- Generational identity and influences
- Personal heroes and role models
Rather than completing surface-level reflection activities, students apply research, communication, and critical thinking skills to create meaningful final products that represent who they are and what has shaped them.
Why Teachers Love This Bundle:
This resource was designed to remove the guesswork from student-led project-based learning.
✔ Clear structure that keeps students moving forward
✔ Flexible enough to fit your schedule and standards
✔ Works in advisory, humanities, SEL, or core classes
✔ Reusable year after year with different student outcomes
✔ Students take ownership, so you’re not managing every detail
As one teacher shared:
"An awesome resource, it took a lot of the legwork out for me!" - Katrina W. (10-12)
What Students Gain:
Students don’t just complete projects, they:
- Develop self-awareness and confidence
- Practice research, planning, and reflection skills
- Make choices about how to represent their learning
- Create authentic products they’re proud to share
- See their personal experiences as valuable sources of knowledge
Authentic Student-Led PBL By Design:
This is a true project-based learning bundle, not a themed project packet.
Students are encouraged to:
- Work with family members and community connections
- Choose meaningful final products
- Present their learning to an authentic audience when possible
Final products and presentations are flexible. For practical reasons, authentic presentations are optional, but removing them shifts the experience from PBL to a traditional project.
What's Included in Each Product:
Each project in this bundle includes:
- Teacher and student guides
- Topic brainstorming activity options
- Project-based learning checklist
- Project planner
- Research guide
- “Challenge Yourself” extension options
- Project rubric
- Project reflection guide
Bonus PBL Design Thinking Resource:
Included in this bundle is a FREE “This Is Me” Art Gallery project, where students plan, create, and share an art piece that represents who they are. This project works well as a culminating experience for the bundle.
Digital and Printable Flexibility
These student-led PBL experiences are Google Apps™ compatible and include both digital and printable versions.
Standards and Customization
Projects are intentionally student-directed. During the design process, students can add concepts or questions they want to explore. If you have specific standards or benchmarks to address, simply ask students to include them in their project plans.
