This is a is a project based learning activity where students will students will consider communities and their needs. After brainstorming about buildings or structures that would benefit their community, learners will use their math and geometry skills to plan and build a 3D model of this structure! This multi-tiered activity allows for immediate differentiation because of the size, and students may complete parts or the entire project based on your choosing.

Through this project, students will learn about and use their skills from the follow topics:
-2D shapes and quadrilaterals

-Area and Perimeter

-Measurement (Use of Rulers)

-Square Numbers

-3D Shapes and Nets

-Volume

-Column Addition

-Multiplication

This project is broken into FIVE Phases.

Those phases are:

Phase One: Consider your Community! (Discuss, Brainstorm, Plan)
Phase Two: Create a Blueprint
Phase 3: Creating 3D Nets and Structures
Phase 4: Finding Volume
