Description
This document includes 4 separate assignments that students can complete during a Project/Problem Based Learning unit. This works well if you already have a project/problem in mind but are not sure how to have students check in and keep accountability. You can keep this as a word document, turn it into a Google doc you can share with students, or copy and paste it into your LMS. However is convenient to you and the accessibility of technology you have in your school setting.
Includes:
- Proposal form
- Students summarize their initial research and plan their project
- Check in form 1
- Students talk about their goals and take stock of our their team and them individually are doing
- Check in form 2
- Slightly modified version of form 1. Optional if it is a short unit or students do not need it
- Post project reflection
- Students reflect on the process, feedback they may have received from you or peers, and justify what grade they believe they deserve
When you have students complete these various documents during a unit is going to depend on how long you are giving students to complete the project.
The standard way that I space out a unit is below:
Two Week (10 day) Group Projects:
Day 1: Introduction to topic
Day 2-3: Research
Day 4: Planning and Proposal form
Day 5-8: Work Days
- Check in 1 at the end of day 5. Check in 2 at the end of day 7.
Day 9: Exhibit/Presentation
Day 10: Debrief/Post Project Reflection
