Description

This science unit is designed to engage students in hands-on learning that builds their understanding of conservation of matter. It includes an easy-to-implement lesson slide deck that uses scientific inquiry and direct instruction to introduce the topic. During the lesson, students take notes using visual notes. The discovery activity allows students to apply what they have learned by interpreting data and writing. The reading passage provides students with additional information about the topic and allows students to practice ELA skills. The formative assessment includes a variety of question types that allow students to demonstrate their mastery of the unit.

My students love how all of the lessons go in the same sequence with this series. It is well done and brings in ELA to the science classroom. The labs are easy to set up and the students enjoy them. We did not have enough time for the students to do the lab independently so we did it together and it worked out great.
