Description

This is a set of 36 task cards covering 7th grade common core math concepts involving ratios, proportions, direct variations, constant of proportionality, percent change, percent discount, simple interest, and proportional relationships between x and y. In the set, there are computation problems, conceptual problems, and problem solving problems. My students love this alternative way of practicing and discussing math. It leads to some very rich discussions!

One typo in one of the questions. It had to do with scale factor, but it repeated the word length instead of asking for width. Overall, my students worked really well with this. I split up the task cards into a few different stations and the students worked with a partner. They enjoyed getting up and moving around the room! The questions were thorough.

Compute unit rates associated with ratios of fractions, including ratios of lengths, areas and other quantities measured in like or different units. For example, if a person walks 1/2 mile in each 1/4 hour, compute the unit rate as the complex fraction ½/¼ miles per hour, equivalently 2 miles per hour.
Recognize and represent proportional relationships between quantities.
Use proportional relationships to solve multistep ratio and percent problems. Examples: simple interest, tax, markups and markdowns, gratuities and commissions, fees, percent increase and decrease, percent error.
