Product Description
Understanding direct variation can be difficult. We generally define direct variations as linear equations that passes through zero. But we forget to emphasize that direct variations because they represent proportional relationships!

In this notes sheet, students will solve a story problem using proportional reasoning and then solve the problem using the direct variation method. This process demonstrates the relationship between proportions and linear equations and emphasizes that problem solving can be achieved using a variety of methods.

Use these tasks as ISN notes, center rotations, entrance/exit slips and even assessments..
