Description

Please see the slide examples provided in the Preview File. The preview file give you 8 of the 29 slides in the PowerPoint. Each slide has a separate problem related to protein synthesis or DNA replication. The PowerPoint is designed to be used with dry erase white boards and markers. Each student should be provided with a white board and marker before beginning this assessment/review activity. If you wish, students could write answers down on paper and turn in for a grade.
Using the white board method gives teacher immediate feedback as to how well students understand content. This is a great way to formatively assess students understanding of transcription, translation, and DNA replication. I have shared this with biology teachers in workshops and they love it. I have used it in my personal biology class and it really is a wonderful way to quickly assess how well students understand protein synthesis. It can be used as an opener activity, exit activity, or even as a quiz grade (if done on paper rather than white board).
