What educators are saying

Great resource for independent work. I use in class and as homework. Big range of difficulty so easy to use throughout the unit.
Great for assessing math practices and getting kids to practice identifying and critiquing logical arguments and the problem solving processes.

Description

Are you needing a math resource to help push your students' mathematical thinking beyond just getting the correct answer to a question? These 72 true or false math tasks will help push your students' thinking as they analyze statements, determine if they are true or false, and then defend/prove their answers.

NOTE: This resource now has a Google Slides version, making it ideal for digital distance learning and remote teaching! Please see the 3rd page of the PDF for details and the link!

About the True or False Math Tasks

Each year, my students struggle with true and false statements. They also struggle with explaining and defending their answers.

We typically only deal with true or false statements in geometry, but my students need practice all year with determining if something is true or false and then defending their answers.

I created this resource to give my students continual practice with true or false statements across all of the major math skills throughout the entire year. This will increase their confidence with these questions and involve them in higher level thinking math tasks.

This resource contains 72 math tasks. Each task contains two true or false statements for the students to analyze. After determining if the statement is true or false, they must then explain their reasoning with words, models, and/or work.

There are a variety of math skills included, some better suited for 4th and some for 5th. But a lot of them are perfect for both grades, serving as grade level practice for 4th and much needed review for 5th.
