ABOUT THE LESSON:

This lesson includes the following postulate and theorems:

  • Converse of the Corresponding Angles Postulate
  • Converse of the Alternate Interior Angles Theorem
  • Converse of the Alternate Exterior Angles Theorem
  • Converse of the Same-Side Interior Angles Theorem


IN THIS LESSON, STUDENTS WILL:

  • given information about angle pairs (i.e. angles are congruent, supplementary, or if given angle measures), determine if two lines are parallel
  • use algebra to determine if two lines are parallel
  • justify all reasoning with converse postulates and theorems (listed above)


THIS RESOURCE INCLUDES:

  • Guided notes (16 examples)
  • Assignment - 19 problems of the same variety (modeled after notes)
  • Graphic Organizer
  • Answer key
  • Optional teacher PowerPoint presentation
  • Tutorial Video


This lesson DOES NOT include proofs. Proofs involving parallel lines can be found in Lesson 4: Parallel Line Proofs.
