Psychology research methods - Creating a research study
Share

Description

This is a fun yet challenging assignment that can be done by students individually or in pairs. The idea here is that they are researchers in the field of psychology. They start with a question about behavior (which we have discussed from the beginning of the year) and from there they will follow some of the general steps that must be considered before conducting research. Students will choose a research method, identify population and samples, form a hypothesis, justify their method and identify hidden variables. This assignment is high level Bloom and although it is a challenge for students, they really enjoy working on it.

NOTE: This is an intro psych class, students will not be conducting the actual research or trying to answer it. This is simply to highlight the research methods that are used and the scientific method decision making that is involved in the field.
