Why You Want to Use This Packet:
-students practice observing, predicting, measuring and calculating
-students learn to work in groups
-a fun way to sneak in learning!
Teaching Suggestions:
-Split students into groups of about 4 or 5. Each group gets their own pumpkin.
-Don't have enough supplies? Have each group start on a different step to allow time for use of measuring supplies.
-Only have 1 pumpkin? Use it as a whole group lesson-give each student a glob of seeds to count and add together.
-This lesson can take a long time to do. You may want to have students fill out their observation and prediction page a day ahead of time.
-For the safety of your students, you may want to cut the top of your pumpkins before students arrive.
-Bring in a toaster oven and roast pumpkin seeds!
-Put names into a hat and pick a student to take their pumpkin home!
