Description
I created this handout to go along with a pumpkin math activity I always do with my students on or just before Halloween. You will need to bring in one or more pumpkins. I like to have one large one for modeling and some smaller ones for students to measure. I cut open the top of the large pumpkin and let the kids pull the guts out to count the seeds, and they love it! You could even bake them and bring them back to school for a yummy treat the next day.
The handout intentionally does not list the units of measurement so that it may be modified to fit your needs and resources. Students could measure height in centimeters, inches, or cubic units. You could also use tape measures in place of string for finding the circumference.
