Punishment is an aversive or an unpleasant stimulation applied to a behaviour. It is any event tat decreases the behaviour that it follows. Therefore, it is a form of control of behaviour in which an aversive stimulus is administered. It also includes removing an individual from a reinforcing situation or a reinforcing stimulus is removed from the individual.
