This Simplifying Square Root Puzzle was created by Pupsaroni Puzzles for an Algebra 1 or Geometry classroom studying simplifying radicals. This puzzle focuses only on simplifying square roots, not cube roots, etc.
Cut out cards on pages 2-6. Page 7 shows what the final product should look like. Cards 2-6 can be printed out as they are to create a group-sized puzzle. If printed 2 to a page, they are more of a personal puzzle.
This puzzle can be used as a cooperative learning activity for a group of students, a personal puzzle at a math center or station, a practice puzzle glued in an interactive notebook, or as a continuous practice puzzle stored in an envelope or a baggie in an interactive notebook.
These cards are meant to give students the opportunity to simplify radicals so that their answers remain exact instead of approximations like the calculator would give them.
