Description

INCLUDED IN THIS RESOURCE:

  • Pythagorean Theorem Interactive Notebook Pages: Includes 3 printable pages with detailed, step-by-step instructions. The interactive flap shows the Pythagorean Theorem and a practice problem. Students will solve the for the unknown side (hypotenuse) using the example on the triangular flap as a guide. This interactive flap also labels the parts of a right triangle: right angle, legs, and hypotenuse.
  • Final Results: This page demonstrates how the interactive page should look like at the end. These photos may be used for student reference.
  • Online Resources: Optional online resources that may be used to supplement student learning. Includes a TED Ed video that demonstrates ways to prove the Pythagorean Theorem, and several interactive websites.

HOW TO USE THIS RESOURCE:

  • Print the interactive notebook pages and follow the instructions included on each page.
  • IMPORTANT: Select “print double-sided” when printing pages 5-6. Page 4 may be printed normally (I.e. single-sided) .
  • NOTE TO EDUCATORS: You only have to print half as many interactive flaps (pages5-6, double-sided) as there are two triangles to cut out per page.
  • Consider printing the flaps (pages 5-6, double-sided) on colorful paper so they stand out on the page.
  • Go through the Pythagorean Theorem together, and discuss how the theorem is used in the example provided on the triangle flap.
  • Once the flap is secured in place with tape, students will solve the practice problem using the information they’ve learned about the Pythagorean Theorem.
