Description

Give students more practice substituting into the Pythagorean Theorem with this assignment. Students will use the formula to find missing side lengths for a leg or hypotenuse. All unknown side lengths will be whole numbers.

This resource includes:

A 2-page assignment, an exit ticket, and all answer keys.

Problems offered include working with whole numbers and square roots, short response and multiple choice. Problems and questions are mainly targeted at learning how to use the Pythagorean Theorem to find a missing side. In the end, students will draw their own triangle and use the formula to determine whether it is a right triangle.

The Learning Objective is a practice series intended for use in one class period about 40-50 minutes long (but may take longer depending on students’ levels). This includes using the assignment and the exit ticket. The series focuses on providing some guided practice while working on the skills for that objective.

Other uses: Sub days, Intervention, English Learners, Academic Support

Other Geometry resources:

Complementary Angles (Equations)

Supplementary Angles (Equations)

Area of Trapezoids

Area of Parallelograms

Area of Triangles

This is an excellent resource! It is well organized and laid out, and not overwhelming for the students to look at while still being (and appearing) age appropriate. I love how it gives me a chance to see how students are understanding each individual part of the Pythagorean Theorem. I am so happy I found this!!! Thank you!!!
