Description

The Pythagorean Theorem Puzzle is an engaging and challenging consolidation math measurement activity designed to help students master the Pythagorean Theorem. It is an excellent way to reinforce students' understanding of the Theorem and can be used as a fun classroom activity to check their understanding.

The puzzle is more of a stack, to be honest. Your students must find the missing length of the top triangle. They'll have to find the missing measurements in every triangle to reach the top to complete the puzzle. They'll have to use every arrangement of Pythagorean's formula to find the length of the unknown leg and hypotenuse measurements. Have your students work their way up the stack using the provided measurements!

Think they're up to the challenge?

The Benefits

The Pythagorean Theorem Puzzle is designed to challenge students and help them develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. By using every arrangement of Pythagorean's formula to find the length of the unknown leg and hypotenuse measurements, students will be able to reinforce their understanding of the theorem while having fun at the same time.

This puzzle contains decimals. Have them round it to the nearest hundredths.

Common Curricular Expectations:

This resource aligns with the following curriculum expectations:

My students loved this exercise. Both the students who worked quickly and had to go back and re-work, and the students who liked to have more of a slow and steady pace. It provided for great discussions in class!
