Description

This Pythagorean Theorem Unit contains four lessons with a quiz and exam. Lessons are for double-period classes or can be split into multiple days.

All lessons include an opening activity, minilesson with guided steps through the process, examples, class activities and a worksheet for homework. Answer keys included.

In addition to the lesson plan, a Performance Task is included for each lesson as well as screencasts for flipped classrooms or additional student support.

This file contains a quiz for the following lessons:

1) The Pythagorean Theorem Introduction Lesson Plan
This is an introduction to the Pythagorean Theorem and using the theorem to find the measures of the sides of right triangles.

2) The Pythagorean Theorem, Pt. II Lesson Plan
This lesson uses the Pythagorean Theorem for three different applications: a) finding the distance between two points in a coordinate plane, b) finding the length of a diagonal in a three-dimensional figure, and c) using the Converse of the Pythagorean Theorem to determine if a triangle is a right triangle.

3) Using Pythagorean Theorem to Solve Real-World Problems Lesson
Students will use the information in the word problem to draw a diagram and label the given lengths. Students will then substitute the measurements into the Pythagorean Theorem to find missing lengths.

4) Proof of the Pythagorean Theorem and its Converse
This full lesson plan presents students with several opportunities to explore different proofs for the Pythagorean Theorem.

5) Pythagorean Theorem Quiz and Unit Exam
There are two versions of the quiz and exam. One version can be used as a unit review or study guide instead.
