This digital product on geometry and right triangles covers the Pythagorean Theorem, the distance between two points and the Distance Formula. In this Google Slides Lesson with Pair Deck embedded slides, students practice applying the Pythagorean Theorem. They first explore the Pythagorean Theorem beginning with a real-life task. You have the flexibility to skip around and do the real-life task at the end, too. They engage in repeated reasoning and reflect on their learning along the way. Optional slide to justify or prove the Pythagorean Theorem. Solutions provided with the exception of the proof (since there are so many videos and online resources of the proof).

Problems on finding the distance between two points and the distance formula nicely connect to the Pythagorean Theorem. The lesson is set up so that students can apply the Pythagorean Theorem in order to prove the distance formula. As an alternative, some teachers may not want their students to deal with the distance formula and memorize it. Instead, they may be completely happy with their students simply applying the Pythagorean Theorem each time when finding the distance between any two points. The choice is yours!
