Description

This card stack activity (great for small groups or stations, partner/collaborative work) helps students practice solving application problems involving quadratics equations. Students are given scenarios/word problems and must write the quadratic equation(s) needed to solve them. There are eight total Question/Answer Cards, but if student correctly answer all problems, it will only take them through FIVE of them before completing the loop. This leaves three cards that are unused. I like to design it this way for solving quadratic application problems in particular because students can theoretically plug numbers in and guess and check answers, so having a few “distractors” works well for this topic. I find five questions is an ideal number for this concept as it does take students a little longer with scenario-type questions. The five questions cover various types of questions. A complete answer key with the correct order of the loop and worked-out problems is provided.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. Your time is very much appreciated.
