Description

Why not integrate Reading and Math in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday? Use these math skills task cards as part of your READ ACROSS AMERICA celebration! Use the cards as a fun way to review 4th grade math skills. Use them in your math center, during small group work, or use them one at a time with your whole class. A Student Recording Sheet is included so students can record their answers for each card. I always have my students use scratch paper to work the problems, then transfer their answer to the recording sheet (See Preview). Answer Key is provided.

**SEE PREVIEW FOR SAMPLE CARDS**

Included are:

• 24 Task Cards

• Student Recording Sheet

• Teacher Answer Key

Cards address the following skills:

• Addition of whole numbers

• Subtraction of whole numbers

• Multiplication practice

• Division Practice

• Solve one and two-step word problems (4 operations)

• Solve word problems by interpreting remainders

• Number patterns

• Order of operations

• Rounding Numbers

Simply print out the cards, cut, and laminate. I mount each card on to cardstock before laminating, to make them extra sturdy. Store them either in a basket or plastic baggie, or hole punch each card and store on a binder ring for easy access.

These task cards can be used as traditional task cards or can be uploaded to either Schoology or Google Slides. It’s an easy way to incorporate technology into your math block. Have students access the task cards through either Schoology or Google slides, print out the recording sheets, and have them handy for whenever or however you choose to use them. No prep necessary, answer key included.

Task cards like these just "cry out" for a game of SCOOT! Another option is to simply print out the cards and Student Recording Sheet in grayscale, and provide them to students as a "packet" to be worked on throughout the day as a "When You're Finished" project. This way, students can be working on both reading and math skills throughout your READ ACROSS AMERICA Celebration Day!

Several grade levels are listed, to assist with differentiating your skill work. The same cards can be used for accelerated, on level, or below level students based on grade level. If you teach special needs students, you might choose a grade lower task card. Likewise, if you teach ECG students, you might want to pick up the next grade's task cards, too.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!!
