"Students so enjoyed using this. I used it as a math scoot with a problem on each desk. Students had 1 minute to complete the problem then up they went to the next desk. "

Description

Why not integrate some Math in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday? Use these math skills task cards as part of your READ ACROSS AMERICA celebration! Use the cards as a fun way to review 5th grade math skills. Grades 4 and 5 are listed to assist with differentiation. Use them in your math center, during small group work, or use them one at a time with your whole class. A Student Recording Sheet is included so students can record their answers for each card. I always have my students use scratch paper to work the problems, then transfer their answer to the recording sheet. Answer Key is provided.

SEE PREVIEW FOR SAMPLE TASK CARDS

Included are:

• 24 Task Cards

• Student Recording Sheet

• Teacher Answer Key

Cards address the following skills:

• Addition of greater whole numbers

• Adding decimals

• Rounding decimals

• Adding fractions

• Adding mixed numbers

• Subtraction of greater whole numbers

• Subtracting decimals

• Subtracting fractions

• Subtracting mixed numbers

• Multiplication practice

• Division Practice

• Solving one and two-step word problems (4 operations)

• Finding Greatest Common Factor (GCF)

• Finding Least Common Multiple (LCM)

• Order of operations (with and without exponents)

Simply print out the cards, cut, and laminate. I mount each card on to cardstock before laminating, to make them extra sturdy. Store them either in a basket or plastic baggie, or hole punch each card and store on a binder ring for easy access.

These task cards can be used as traditional task cards or can be uploaded to either Schoology or Google Slides. It’s an easy way to incorporate technology into your math block. Have students access the task cards through either Schoology or Google slides, print out the recording sheets, and have them handy for whenever or however you choose to use them. No prep necessary, answer key included.

Task cards like these "cry out" for a game of SCOOT! Another option is to simply print out the cards and Student Recording Sheet in grayscale, and provide them to students as a "packet" to be worked on throughout the day as a "When You're Finished" project. This way, students can be working on both reading and math skills throughout your READ ACROSS AMERICA DAY or Dr. Seuss Celebration Day!

Several grade levels are listed, to assist with differentiating your skill work. The same cards can be used for accelerated, on level, or below level students based on grade level.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!!
