Description
This readers' theatre script writing project PowerPoint and PDF explains, step-by-step, the process of writing a 4-6 page readers' theater script for students to read aloud in small groups. LOTS of examples from 3 scripts demonstrate techniques of plot, character development and dialogue. Teacher rubrics are included.
This writing assignment will take about two hours to write and proof-read. It will take a few hours for students to rehearse with their readers because students will be readers in more than one group. The duration of the readings to audiences will depend entirely on how many students you have in your class. Two versions of the resource - a PowerPoint and a PDF - are included in the zip file.
Skills included:
-- how to pick a story
-- how to develop the plot
-- how to develop the characters
-- how to write effective dialogue
-- how to lay out the script.
-- how to read parts.
Examples from three Readers' Theater scripts are included.
Assessment tools included
-- a teacher's rubric for the writing of the script.
-- a teacher's rubric for the reading of the script.
The Readers' Theater mysteries that are used in the PowerPoint to provide examples of writing techniques are Readers' Theater - Mystery of the Stolen Laptop
READERS' THEATER- MYSTERY OF THE DRAMA CAMP THIEF
