Description

There are three mini lessons in this product.

Lessons

Each mini lessons includes an opening, or introduction, activity. This usually includes an anchor chart or discussion activity. It is suggested that this time be used in a whole group setting and be between 10-15 minutes. Students will then complete a partner activity related to the lesson’s topic. This activity varies in length between 15-25 minutes depending on the activity. Each lesson concludes with an independent activity for students to show their understanding. The independent activity may take 15 minutes.

Anchor Charts

These lessons include an anchor chart that may be used over several days. I would suggest that you print and laminate the anchor chart for durability. These anchor charts may also be printed in poster size from any commercial print shop.

Partner Activities

The partner activities are a great way for students to learn cooperatively. The partner activities vary by each lesson but are based off research based cooperative learning strategies.

Independent Worktime

Students will show understanding of the standard during this independent worktime. This time may include printable reading passages or using a graphic organizer and any authentic text that is being read in the classroom.

Met expectations

My stduents enjoyed the first mini lesson which discussed fact and opinion. But, they had trouble understanding author's purpose. Maybe incorporating persuade, inform, entertain (p.i.e)?
