Rosie’s Walk by Pat Hutchins, is a great story to add to your Farm Theme❣️ Use realia photographs to retell this classic story. Then extend the learning with prepositions and exploring cause and effect. The digital version allows your students to creatively illustrate the retelling of the story. It also has a self checking drag and drop option to check for understanding of the story sequence.
Rosie goes out for a walk and a sneaky fox is trying to follow her. But, look closely at the illustrations because the fox’s journey is not as peaceful as Rosie’s. This simple read aloud has a second story in the illustrations.
Literature activities are a great way to extend a book after reading. This packet includes:
- Retell Rosie’s Walk using six (6) settings that has realia photographs
- Practice some prepositional word activities using images of a red hen and a fox.
- Practice fine motor skills with a map of Rosie’s journey. Students will cut out images and glue them to the story sequence map.
- 3 pages of Reading Strategies lesson (Substitute Ready❣️)
- 2 pages Prepositional lesson (Substitute Ready❣️)
- Standards for Preschool (DDRP) and Common Core Standards for Kindergarten through Third Grade.
