Description

This resource includes 13 low-prep exit tickets designed to assess student understanding throughout a complete Ratios and Rates unit. Each exit ticket aligns to a specific lesson focus and can be used for daily formative assessment, small-group instruction, intervention, or quick checks for understanding.

The questions are intentionally written to reflect the rigor and structure of state-style ratio and proportional reasoning problems, including a mix of multiple-choice and constructed-response items. No reference sheet is required, and all problems use student-friendly numbers and contexts appropriate for Grade 6.

What’s Included

  • 13 exit tickets aligned to a full ratios and rates progression
  • 3 focused questions per exit ticket
  • Mix of multiple-choice and short responses
  • Student-friendly “I Can” statements on each page
  • Self-assessment scale for student reflection
  • Answer key

Skills Covered

  • Ratio language and representations
  • Writing ratios from real-world situations
  • Equivalent ratios
  • Tape diagrams and ratio tables
  • Finding missing values in tables
  • Part-to-part and part-to-whole ratios
  • Solving ratio problems when the total is known
  • Unit rates, unit price, and speed
  • Comparing rates
  • Spiral review of ratios and rates

Standards Alignment

Aligned to CCSS 6.RP.A.1, 6.RP.A.2, and 6.RP.A.3

Each exit ticket is clearly labeled to match the lesson focus and standard.

Ideal For

  • Daily exit tickets
  • Formative assessment
  • MTSS and intervention
  • Test prep for ratios and proportional relationships

This resource is print-and-go, easy to implement, and designed to support instructional decision-making without adding extra prep.

Standards

Understand the concept of a ratio and use ratio language to describe a ratio relationship between two quantities. For example, “The ratio of wings to beaks in the bird house at the zoo was 2:1, because for every 2 wings there was 1 beak.” “For every vote candidate A received, candidate C received nearly three votes.”
Understand the concept of a unit rate 𝘢/𝘣 associated with a ratio 𝘢:𝘣 with 𝘣 ≠ 0, and use rate language in the context of a ratio relationship. For example, “This recipe has a ratio of 3 cups of flour to 4 cups of sugar, so there is 3/4 cup of flour for each cup of sugar.” “We paid $75 for 15 hamburgers, which is a rate of $5 per hamburger.”
Use ratio and rate reasoning to solve real-world and mathematical problems, e.g., by reasoning about tables of equivalent ratios, tape diagrams, double number line diagrams, or equations.
