This Ratios and Rates activity gets your students out of their seats using ratios, rates, unit rates, equivalent ratios, and double number lines to solve real-world problems while uncovering clues to the hidden message. Both print and digital options are available.

The 9 question activity can be used with partners, small groups, or as individual practice. Students can work in whatever order they want, so it is easy to spread them out across the room. Each card is numbered in the upper left star.

Two versions of the activity are included to help make printing easier for you. The first has a color background along with the color stars and boxes. The second has a plain white background with the color stars and boxes. If “no color” ink is needed, just print the second set in grayscale or pure black & white. Half sheet student answer sheets are also included.

Printing each question on cardstock and laminating each will keep copy costs down and preserve the activity for years to come.
