Description
This is a complete note sheet package meant for senior Chemistry (or even Biology).
Total package size is 25 pages.
The package includes a student set of notes, with blank call-outs meant to be filled in along with their teacher.
The package comes with a completed master set of notes for the teacher which has all the call-outs filled in!!
In this lab simulation set of notes, the students will analyze the reaction of solid Zn with HCl. They will learn the following things:
1) How and why we can use the mass of the system to monitor the rate of the reaction through the mass of the gas created.
2) How to calculate the mass of the gas through the mass of the system data collected in a lab.
3) How to determine the best orientation for a graph, and how to determine a good scale through a calculation method.
4) How to create and label a graph.
5) How to calculate average rate and instantaneous rate through the graph.
6) A summary question worksheet is also included on some of the ideas presented.
7) An index page is included at the end of the document to help teachers organize this package and see all the major headings of this lesson.
The student set of notes is 11 full pages, with blank call-out, clear diagrams and graphs included within the notes.
The master teacher set of notes has all the exact same call-outs, but it is filled in with the proper numbers and words to write. Also on the teacher set of notes, all of those call-outs are shaded grey to make it very easy to deliver the lesson.
Lastly there are 2 special appendices included which teach:
a) Why the mass of the system changes (this has diagrams and visuals to explain, it actually is pretty tricky!)
b) How to choose a good graph scale in super detail (honours students may find this useful)
