WHAT'S INCLUDED? (PRINT AND DIGITAL)

  • Activity: 1: 2 Ways

Look at the number and write it in two different forms. Write it in expanded form and word form.

  • Activity 2: Chop It!

Write the word form of each decimal in the boxes.

  • Activity 3: Fill It In

Students fill in the chart with the missing pieces. Students may fill in the expanded form, word form, or standard form depending on which boxes are empty.

  • Activity 4: Tablet Time

Write the number in standard form on the tablet.

HOW TO IMPLEMENT:

There are 11 problems included in each of the 4 games (total of 44 questions).

  • Digitally: The first problem is always an example for students so they know what to do. I would recommend completing 5 questions during your lesson together and assigning the other 5 for students to complete independently. Or, assign all 10 after going over the first example slide together. They are provided in Google Slides so you can assign them in Google Classroom.

  • Print: Print the task cards out and put them in a math center. Have students record answers on the recording sheet provided. Students can use the self-checking answer key to check their work. You can choose between the color and black and white option.

There are 4 read and write decimal games to help students practice their math skills - in a fun way! They align with 5.NBT.3. These 5th grade spiral review math activities are great for additional practice or could even serve as quick 5th grade math assessments during the beginning of a 5th grade decimal unit. They're made to be flexible so you can use them how YOU want to!
