Description
A collection of resources for scaffolding and practicing reading comprehension during daily reading activities. It can be combined with other reading programs (e.g. Daily 5, RazKids, LLI) and modified for learners needing specialized support due to its consistent language and routine. It can also be used for homeschooling or alternative education programs. Furthermore, this set also includes a free Google Form assessment document for tracking students' development.
More resources will be added to this set in August 2020.
Content of Individual Reading Comprehension Sets
Page 1 - Enlarge to create an anchor chart and provide copies to the students. Use this to teach how to identify a reading comprehension connection with the provided text.
Page 2 - Adding staff names to these samples will make it fun for students as they "mark" the principal's and the teacher's work. Students use the checklist to mark each sample then compare their answers in a whole-class discussion. This will prepare them for marking their own work during the reflection process.
Page 3 & 4 - For four days, students read (free-choice, levelled, peer reading...etc..) and fill in one reflection. On the fifth day, I have the students share their reflections orally with a peer. These pages can be photocopied many times to be used over multiple weeks.
