Description

These 20 "passages" are a great place to start with beginning readers. They are a sentence long and have visual clues to help them. After reading the sentence, there are two comprehension questions and one question about print concepts (words, letters, spaces, sentence structure, etc.)

Every passage talks about an animal and a color. The rest of the sentence is high frequency words making it very easy to read. Words include: the, is, I, see, a

There is a color guide at the beginning that can be printed off for students to use a reference when reading.

These passages allow students to read sentences on their own and answer questions about what they read. The sentences are very basic and students will be so excited when they read them!

I have provided a color version and a black and white version for every passage.
