This mini book combines non-fiction information about Jamestown with non-fiction text features (photographs, glossary, maps, etc.). It's a great way to combine both history (social studies) and reading. It's a good start to learning about the text features. The children enjoy making their own non-fiction book!

After reading The Kite in Days with Frog and Toad by Arnold Lobel the students can complete this reading response activity which focuses on reading comprehension and dialogue (quotation marks). It's a great activity for a think, write, pair, share Kagan activity. The children can also illustrate their favorite part of the characters speaking to each other in the kite graphic.

This is an updated matching game from my TPT store. This version includes 3 color words (black, grey and brown) that will need to be colored to match the words once printed. The pictures now match the color words if you would like students to rely on the picture graphic as a clue to read the words.
This is a coloring activity (easy informal assessment for the beginning of the year) where the children will see the numeral and what color to use but on the apple they will only see the number words. They must identify the correct number word when coloring the apple.
Use the title, snowflakes and activity page to create a whole class as well as individual student graphs that feature students' favorite winter activities...building a snowman or having a snowball fight!
This number words matching game can be used individually as seat work or in a pocket chart for a literacy station. It includes a number words writing practice sheet.
