Description
I use this in my reading groups to assess students over time. Each day, I have students write responses to what we are reading in their journals. They complete these journals at their seats, as soon as their reading group time is over, and then turn them in once they are finished. In each box (Comprehension, Sentence Structure, Capitalization, and Punctuation are mine, but you can create your own), I put a star for great work, a checkmark for acceptable, a minus for below expectations, or a 0 for uncompleted or no effort shown. There is a box in each section for each day of the week. Overall, this gives me a basic idea of what my students do well with, or what they may need to work on just by glancing through my logs.
