Description

This is an incentive bookmark created for students who self-monitor while reading. Each time you notice a child self-monitoring independently during a guided reading or small group reading lesson or reading conference, mark their bookmark with a marker or hole punch. Once the student fills up the bookmark, he/she may receive an incentive for reading. I have used coupons for reading to a stuffed animal, reading in a special new chair or spot in the classroom, using a pen for responding to text! This bookmark was created to intrinsically motivate students to recognize independently when a word doesn't make sense, sound right, or look right and choose a decoding strategy with no teacher prompting.
