These 10 mini-books challenge students to use their critical thinking skills to improve their reading and writing.

Each mini-book contains a short paragraph story, predicting page, deductive reasoning page, and an opinion response page.

Together all four sections guide students into becoming better readers and writers. They correlate with the Common Core Standards of reading fluency and opinion writing (persuasive writing).

There are 20 pages to copy, cut in half, and staple to make 10 mini-books.

There are 3 student strategy cards:
Partner Reading Tips, Happy Writing, and Writing Tips.
There is also a blank card to add your own student strategy tip. These cards can be copied onto tag paper, laminated, and used by the students when they are practicing their reading with partners.
