Description

Keep your students EXCITED and ENGAGED with these Reading Response Activity Templates for Google Slides™ Set 2! These are a fun and interactive way for students to respond to reading, while ensuring that reading standards are being covered. They're a great digital alternative to traditional worksheets and are perfect for distance learning or in-class. Students reflect and respond to stories to show what they learned. Assign to students individually, in partners, small groups to work on collaboratively, and also used as a whole class guided lesson!

What's included:

7 Reading Response Activity Templates for Google Slides

PDF printable version

Directions for each activity are also included in the download as well.

Directions:

Read & Recall

Students insert two things they remembered about the story, what the story is mainly about (a brief explanation), and the main thing that happens in the beginning, middle, and end of the story.

Snapshots

Students write descriptions to create "snapshots" of a story’s setting, characters, problem, and solution!

Book Review

Students get to review and rate a book or story! This activity is wonderful to use for student book recommendations of the week! Print out final book reviews to post in your classroom library or save as a PDF to post in your Google Classroom announcements.

Cite the Evidence

Get ready to hone in on text evidence skills for this activity! Students will write the big idea or a summary of a story, then refer back to the story to cite text evidence to support the big idea.

Asking Questions

Students will learn to be active and strategic readers by asking questions before, during, and after the story. This type of on-going questioning opens up their curiosity, inferencing, and metacognition skills, as they learn to take more ownership over and validate their own thinking.

Setting the Scene

This activity is all about the scene! For this activity, students will enjoy adding five things about the story’s setting and then finding images (use the image feature) to go along with each “scene.”

Conflicts

Students will take a deeper look at the story by analyzing the conflict; What is the main conflict? How does the main character respond to the conflict? What is the cause of the conflict? What was the solution to the conflict? This activity can be assigned to a small group to work on collaboratively to build discussion and academic conversation skills!

Additional ways these can be used:

Formal Assessment

Exit Tickets

Book Reports

Literature Circles

Novel Study

Breakout Rooms

Early Finishers

Print out and use in small flexible groups for in-class learning and more!

ENJOY!!! :)
