Description

Close Reading Informational Text - Science in the News is a Ready-to-go Project. Students find, read, and respond to nonfiction articles that are science based. Relates to ELA Common Core standards for nonfiction and can be used for various grade levels as a "close reading" activity. Use it as an "extra credit" project or as a "Reading in the Content Areas" assignment. This project includes: Directions, Rubric, Organizer, and Example Report. Teacher Tip: So that you don't have to read too many articles yourself, provide students with several articles to choose from. I usually encourage them to use supplied articles, unless a student requests a different topic, in which case I must approve the article first.
