Description
Did you ever find your Reading Standards confusing to read? Is it difficult to see how skills build from one year to the next? Do you struggle with knowing what it means when a student struggles "with meaning and context in literary text"? These are all questions my teachers struggle with as well. As the District English Supervisor, I wanted to create a notebook that would help teachers answer those questions. Thus the creation of my Reading Progression Guide. THIS IS NOT A SERIES OF WORKSHEETS OR LESSON PLANS! This product clearly breaks down every literary and informational text standard by showing the progression from 3rd through 9th grade and by offering question stems and vocabulary terms specific to each standard. Teachers can use this information to create assignments, develop target questions and guide student conferencing. It is a friendly version of the South Carolina Reading State Standards. Print it out, hole punch it, place it in a binder and use as a reference tool when planning your standards-based instruction. The packet includes:
4 "Help my students struggle with..." Cover Pages that have shared vocabulary and key questions.
15 pages of "standards progression" for literary and information text. Color coded for easy reference.
4 pages of activity suggestions
Standards Compliment the South Carolina Standards for Reading and Common Core, grades 3rd-9th.
