Description
This reading strategy journal can be used for students to record feelings, responses, and reactions to reading texts. This strategy encourages students to think deeply about the materials they read and to relate this information to their prior knowledge and experiences. This reading journal uses the seven reading strategies: metacognition, schema, drawing conclusions, inferring, determining importance, questioning, visualizing, and synthesizing. Within these strategies students have tasks in each area. This work well with guided reading.
Instructions to make the journals: After you print the journal cut it in half at 5 1/2 inches. Each 16 pages makes 2 journals. I have always stapled these on the left side, creating the journal book.
