Making Predictions (Predicting) Reading Strategy PowerPoint

A PowerPoint designed to help teach predicting to students.

Includes a learning objective and three success criteria so that students are aware of the goals of the lesson. Explains what predicting is and why we predict. The PowerPoint also includes basic, step-by-step instructions on how to make predictions before, during, and after reading. There are several opportunities for students to practice predicting either independently or during a class discussion. The last slide provides students with a range of sentence starters (prompts) to help them get started with predicting.
