### Description

The quickest way to get your students engaged in math in a deep and meaningful way is to use authentic instruction that relates math to the real world. Preferably the real world math should involve real world interests that students actually care about and that's what this volume of lessons does. These are 12 lessons that your students are sure to love and actually care about. Each lesson involves an activity that students will participate in. Each lesson has a lesson plan with extensions and student activity guide (or worksheet).

The lessons include:
-Fractions with LeBron (chart LeBron's shots for a game and analyze and report how well he did using fractions, decimals, and percents)
-Find the Better Buy (comparison shopping using ratios and rates)
-Cellular Algebra (using algebra concepts to analyze cell phone plans)
-Ratio of a Chorus (listen to music and find the importance of a chorus using ratios)
-Clothing Design and Pricing (design clothing and price it using an algebraic formula and substitution)
-Collecting and Analyzing Data (asking questions of peers and then analyzing the data with mean, median, mode and outliers)
-Cut-Agon & Polygons as Letters (examine the rules of polygons and use those rules to make a font of the letters of the alphabet)
-Geometry Everywhere (examine why certain shapes are used in certain situations and find geometric shapes in their world)
-Algebra in the NFL (pull data from ESPN and use the quarterback rating formula to determine mathematically if a quarterback is better than another)
-Percent of Change in Bubble Gum (students chew gum and blow bubbles to find out by what percent of increase one gum is at blowing bubbles than the other gum)
-Probability of Rock/Paper/Scissors (students play rock paper scissors and analyze the probability of winning)
