Description
Keep your students engaged with this fun and engaging 7th grade math activity! Students cut, read, and sort 12 real-world problems involving adding integers. Students read each real-world situation and determine if the given numerical expression is true or false. If the expression is true, students will glue the piece to the TRUE side and solve. If the expression is false, students will glue the piece to the FALSE side, write a correct numerical expression, and solve.
This product includes:
- Printable Activity
- Digital Activity (Google Slides™)
- Answer Keys
This activity aligns well with:
CCSS:
- 7.NS.1: Apply and extend previous understandings of addition and subtraction to add and subtract rational numbers; represent addition and subtraction on a horizontal or vertical number line diagram.
- 7.NS.A.1d: Apply properties of operations as strategies to add and subtract rational numbers.
NGLS:
- NY-7.NS.1: Apply and extend previous understandings of addition and subtraction to add and subtract rational numbers. Represent addition and subtraction on a horizontal or vertical number line.
- NY-7.NS.1b: Understand addition of rational numbers; p + q is the number located a distance |q| from p, in the positive or negative direction depending on whether q is positive or negative. Show that a number and its opposite have a sum of 0 (are additive inverses). Interpret sums of rational numbers by describing real-world contexts.
