Description
These real-world applied math problem solving worksheets cover topics taught in 5th, 6th, and 7th grade math classrooms including time, money, measurement (with both imperial and metric units), ratio, percent, fractions, and more! They are an excellent resource for math test prep, end of year math review, or even back to school review of the previous grade's skills
How to Use:
- These worksheets are a great way to review those skills that students forget throughout the year.
- I often use them on a Friday afternoon and let students work on them together in pairs.
- Then I call students up to be the teacher and show the class how they solved a problem.
- My students love becoming the teacher and this is a great way to show that there are multiple ways to tackle the same problem!
- These worksheets are also great test prep activities. I have based them off of the types of questions from the Foundation Skills Assessment in Canada, but they will help students in the United States prepare for state tests too!
Sample Questions:
- Jack was given $50 from his grandparents. He put that in his piggy bank and he also puts in $8 at the end of each week. Will he ever have exactly $110 in his piggybank?
- Norah and Pauline made two pizzas with 12 slices in each pizza. They ate 7 slices in total for lunch. How many slices are left? (please write an improper fraction and mixed number).
- Dog food costs $1.00 for 250g. How much will 4.5kg of dog food cost? OR Dog food costs 50 cents for an ounce. How much will 2 pounds of dog food cost?

These problem solving worksheets are designed for students in 5th, 6th, or 7th grade who are learning intermediate or middle school math skills.
