This Real World Math project teaches middle school students financial literacy skills and budgeting through learning how to set up and run their own business. Students set up a booth or stall to make and sell at a school fair or fete. This pack carefully guides teaches to help the class pick good products and encourages team building and critical thinking.
Are you looking for a fun way to teach your students about about financial literacy and real world math? Have your class run a 'Fun Day' set up similar to mini fete or fair.
Students create and run a simple stall to create a fair/ fete atmosphere for a day.
This project requires only a few lessons of preparation time for the students to set up their business and then one day of running the stalls.
The students learn how to create and set up a business for a day, to budget, team work and profit/ loss. It is a great way for students to transfer skills they have learned in math into real world situations.
This resource includes:

- Ready to print student booklet
- Design and logo and business name
- Recording the cost of items
- Keeping a track of profit/ loss
The booklet has been set up to help you guide your students through the process. Although, it still allows you flexibility to teach the unit how you wish.

This project has been made to align to Australian Curriculum - Business and Economics, but is suitable for any grade 4 to 8 class.
