Description

This step by step, discussion driven, no-prep notes and practice set that covers Recursive Processes with Arithmetic Sequences is a great way to teach & introduce writing rules for linear patterns to your students. The first page of the notes is more instructional and goes over the breakdown of both the recursive and explicit formulas with 2 examples to discuss together.  The second page can be used as independent practice or as guided practice, where students work independently, with a partner or within a small group. This set’s practice has 9 scaffolded problems (4 that emulate the new STAAR item types).  There is also an "Closing Thought"
opportunity at the end. Students and teachers love how easy these notes are to follow and understand.

These notes give a very structured procedural approach to additive patterns.  The practice problems included are scaffolded so that they begin at more of an entry level difficulty and then progress into a deeper complexity to encourage problem solving and “productive struggle”.
