Description

Reel Injun: On the Trail of the Hollywood Indian (2009) is a helpful documentary film for Washington State History courses as well as a social studies courses focused on Indigenous (Native American) History.

As of September 30, 2021, the film is available for the Prime Video streaming service, Alternatively, you can purchase the film as DVD on Amazon. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find it anywhere else online (the National Film Board of Canada had a downloadable version, but access is now unavailable).

These resource provides four things: (1) five philosophical questions about the film with connections to larger themes of history; (2) helpful terms and definitions with sources for those words; (3) specific film rating notes to warn you about upcoming images and speech; (4) a printable handout for students to answer the questions; (5) a twenty-four question, fill-in-the-blank movie guide with a word bank and timecodes; and (6) an answer key for the movie guide.

If you have any questions or feedback, please reach out via TPT, or e-mail me at erikkteaches@gmail.com

I ended up not using this in my US History class due to time constraints but it was very well done. I plan on using it in my APUSH class later this year.
