Description

See how to create a fun, hands-on project with pre-schoolers and kindergartners that reinforces pattern.

Mathematics is described as the science of pattern. It is the foundation of all work done in math. Without pattern, there is no math.

The study of pattern begins simply with generalizing repeating patterns such as in the form ABABAB. The core of this pattern is 'AB' because this is the part that repeats.

This project uses these AB-type patterns and has students use "jewels" to create repeating patterns that they'll use to decorate a frame. These frames make great Mother's Day, Father's Day, and/or holiday gifts.
