Set 5- Making Ten- 1 and how many make 10; 12 is how many more than 10?; 10 on the top and how many on the bottom make 11?

Set 6- Doubles

You can use these task cards during whole group, small, group, math stations. You can differentiate by using numbers 1-10 or numbers 1-20 for your higher group.

After using these whole group for awhile, you can then set up a math

station for students to be the “teacher” and read the cards for others to show the amount on their rekenrek and talk about how they show each amount.

Rekenreks are used to build number sense.

If you do not have rekenreks- check my pinterest board for how you can make them using pony beads, pipe cleaners, and cardstock.

I am truly amazed at how well these cards support student fact fluency by providing a bridge from concrete to pictorial to abstract understanding for my students. I am a math intervention teacher for grades 2-6, and this resource has helped me effectively support struggling math learners in math understanding and visualization. Thank you!
