This resource, for Calculus (used in AP Calculus AB), is a related rates differentiation practice handout. The 10 practice problems include questions of varying difficulty. Most of these questions are solved without using a graphing calculator to help students prepare for the format of the AP Exam. The color coded step-by-step solution key is included in this 6 page PDF resource.
This practice worksheet includes the following:
- 1 question involving volume of a cone in which you have to eliminate radius before differentiating
- 2 questions involving the area of a circle (One Calculator Active and one without using a calculator)
- 1 question involving volume of a cylinder in which you have to eliminate radius before differentiating
- 2 questions involving the volume of sphere
- 1 question involving the circumference of a circle
- 3 questions on ladders sliding down a wall (Pythagorean theorem needed)
- Negative and positive rates of change - for example air is "escaping" a balloon
**This practice does NOT include setting up any similar right triangles or trig functions in order to solve the problem.**
